History of Dharmasiri
Dharmasiri De Silva was born on April 4. 1945 in the Balapitiya area in Ambalangoda. He was the eldest of the three boys born to Hettiyahandi Lantin De Silva and Demuni Jinorishami De Silva. He received the exposure of Lantin De Silva’s well-established businesses and built his foundation of knowledge through the experience. Dharmasiri’s world was built up in an atmosphere filled with immense pleasure and satisfaction.
A legend was born and made to thrive
Dharmasiri De Silva was born in Balapitiya area in the Ambalangoda City. Ambalangoda has been the birthplace of prominent personals who have contributed immensely to Sri Lanka’s progress. Ambaangoda is a town well known for Puppetry, traditional puppets and low country dance traditions have not lost their intrinsic value and charm. Dharmasiri enjoyed the time spent with his extended family and he still cherishes the glorious moments spent together.
In 1950, Dharmasiri got admission to Dharmasoka Vidyalaya to enter an enchanting turning point in his life. He selected botany. zoology, physics and chemistry for GCE Advanced level. He paid a great interest in the chemistry subject and involved in lot of experiments in the fully equipped science laboratory in Dharmasoka Vidyalaya. His knowledge of chemistry proved useful in his business activities later in life. Dharmasiri is forever grateful to Dharmasoka Vidyalaya for enriching his life and directing him in the proper direction.
The enrichment of a grateful life
Dharmasiri got married to Wellabada Edirisinghe Walawwe Nalamuni Kanthi Edirisinghe on December 24, 1970. Mrs. Kanthi De Silva has been a beacon light to her husband to lead a successful life, she stood by him throughout and supported in every step. After one year of their marriage in 1971 their eldest son Hettiyahandi Gehan Kavinda De Silva was born, after another two years in 1973 their second son Hettiyahandi Mevan Shaminda De Silva was born. In 1978, after another five years their third son Hettiyahandi Jeevan Ravinda De Silva was born.
At present Dharmasiri is a proud father of three sons, three daughter in laws and a proud grandfather to seven grandchildren. For him life is indeed beautiful and full of opportunities.
Unveiling the Depths of a Personal Spiritual Odyssey
Dharmasiri De Silva lives a spiritual life with a proper understanding of the teachings of Buddha. The profits earned by his businesses are precisely donated to put up temples, Buddha Statues and Dagabas. He routinely invests in taking care of Bhikku’s, their health and education. Sometimes, he works as an author. He writes books on Buddhism, gets them printed and publishes them.
Those who come to this world from heavenly abodes from time-to-time help propagate Buddhism while leading exemplary lives. Dharmasiri De Silva belongs to such a group of people.

Dharmasiri De Silva has served Buddha Sasana for five decades up to now. His hard-earned money was contributed to build many temples, Buddha statues and fully equipped libraries for the use of Maha Sangha.
Dharmasiri De Silva is destined to be a great giver or a philanthropist. There is no limit to his giving as he is just performing his duty assigned by fate.
